Purpose of the ISMPE
The purpose of the ISMPE is to provide a consistent and globally accepted benchmark of good practice in mentoring programme management to ensure that mentoring programmes are:
Well designed
Well managed
Signficiantly contributing to the development of participants and the effectiveness of the organisation.
Organisations considering a formal benchmark/assessment against the ISMPE will benefit by:
Legitimising their mentoring programme against a recognised standards
Strengthening and improving the mentoring programme through a rigourous assessment
Continuing to build the business case for mentoring withint the organisation
Identifying opportunities to promote mentoring as a key people develoment activity within the organisation.
Benchmarking Process
The benchmarking process generally consists of:
Pre-assessment meeting
Self assessment
Review of self assessment and consultation around areas for improvement
Audit of assessment submission by independent ISMPE auditor (first and second assessor)
